De preferentie van de aankoopkanalen op basis van het consumentenprofiel

Traditionele winkel populairst bij consument

Producten kunnen aangekocht worden in diverse winkelmogelijkheden. Denk hierbij aan een traditionele winkel, online, pop-up (tijdelijke winkel) en flagship store (winkel waar beleving centraal staat en slechts één merk verkoopt). Waar koop je jouw producten aan? En wat zijn de redenen hiervoor?

Websites zoals Zalando en Bol.com kennen we allemaal. Zo heeft negentig procent van de Vlamingen ooit een product online aangekocht. Om te weten op welke manier de consument een keuze maakt tussen de verscheidene winkelmogelijkheden, werd er een recent onderzoek van de KU Leuven uitgevoerd. In een bevraging bij 278 volwassen Vlamingen kwam de traditionele winkel nog steeds naar voor als het meest populair bij de consument. Het laat daarbij de webshop, pop-up en flagship store achter zich. Ondanks de opmars van het online aankopen en de nieuwere concepten, verkiest de consument dus nog steeds om hun product in een traditionele winkel aan te kopen, zoals MediaMarkt. Het onderzoek ging op zoek naar verklaringen voor dit fenomeen.

Vertrouwen

Hoe langer en hoe meer de consument vertrouwd geraakt met een winkelconcept, hoe vaker deze wordt gekozen voor de aankoop van producten. Het onlineshoppen is in opmars doordat bedrijven zich hier meer op richten en de consument er dus meer vertrouwen mee krijgt. Voor de nieuwe concepten pop-up en flagship store ligt het verhaal wat anders. Deze worden door de consument nog als te innovatief beschouwd, waardoor er op dit moment te weinig vertrouwen is in dergelijke winkelmogelijkheden. Toch zijn er meer bedrijven die zich bewust worden van de rijkdom van pop-ups en flagship stores. Deze concepten verhogen namelijk de naamsbekendheid van het merk.

Technologie

Het blijkt dat consumenten vanaf 45 jaar minder bereid zijn om aan te kopen via een webshop. Zij zijn namelijk minder vertrouwd met het internet en hebben liever zo weinig mogelijk technologie om een product aan te kopen. Andere demografische kenmerken zoals het geslacht, inkomen en opleiding beïnvloeden de voorkeur van de winkelmogelijkheden niet.

Invloed persoonlijkheid

Wat wel een grote rol speelt in de keuze van type winkel, zijn de persoonlijkheidskenmerken. Consumenten die prijsbewust zijn, gaan meer geneigd zijn om online hun product aan te kopen. Online kunnen prijzen namelijk sneller en eenvoudiger met elkaar vergeleken worden. Ook consumenten die impulsief aankopen, vinden vlugger hun weg naar een webshop. Via het internet wordt er namelijk persoonlijke reclame verspreid waar impulsieve kopers gevoelig aan zijn.

Kopers die belang hechten aan plezier tijdens het winkelen, hebben een betere houding ten opzichte van de pop-up en de traditionele winkel. Producten kunnen aanraken is namelijk van belang voor de recreatieve shopper. De flagship store die juist inspeelt op plezier tijdens het winkelen, is te vernieuwend voor de recreatieve shopper. Vertrouwen hebben in een winkelvariant is dus van cruciaal belang.

Consumenten, die innovatief zijn ingesteld, gaan bijgevolg sneller een product aankopen in een flagship store. Ook degenen die impulsief een product aankopen, zijn meer geneigd om een product aan te kopen in een flagship store. Door het ervaren plezier in deze winkel, gaan impulsieve kopers namelijk sneller een product aankopen. Consumenten die geconfronteerd worden met tijdsdruk, gaan ook meer winkelen in een flagship store. Deze creëert namelijk niet alleen beleving, maar biedt ook slechts één merk aan zoals Apple. Het aanbieden van slechts één merk is bijgevolg een voordeel voor de consument die tijdsdruk ervaart.

Type product

Naast de persoonlijkheidskenmerken, hangt de keuze van het type winkel ook af van het product dat de consument wenst aan te kopen. Producten waarbij het uittesten van het product van belang is, zoals schoenen, worden vaker in een pop-up of traditioneel winkel aangekocht en minder online. Waarbij het uitproberen van het product minder van belang is, zoals software, zijn mensen meer geneigd om hun aankopen online te doen en minder in een pop-up of traditionele winkel.

Traditionele winkel

Ondanks de opkomst van de webshop en nieuwere concepten, blijft de traditionele winkel het meest gewenst. Vertrouwen van de consument in een type winkel is van cruciaal belang waardoor er een grotere voorkeur is om in de traditionele winkel aan te kopen. Toch zijn er enkele kenmerken waardoor de ene consument positiever staat tegenover een winkelvariant dan een andere consument. Zo spelen persoonlijkheidskenmerken een grote rol om in een bepaalde winkel aan te kopen. Daarnaast is het type product dat de consument wenst aan te kopen eveneens cruciaal.

Er komen steeds meer nieuwe winkelmogelijkheden, maar op dit moment houden we ons vast aan de traditionele winkel.
